IVF specialist, PFC Head doctor
Lucie Švabíková is a renowned fertility specialist with many years of experience in obstetrics, gynaecology and IVF. She leads the PFC medical team with professionalism, empathy and above all a human touch, and devotes herself to each and every couple PFC treats. To assist future medical professionals, Dr. Švabíková is a teacher and lecturer on advanced hysteroscopy courses at Charles University’s Faculty of Medicine.
My pathway to IVF began helping women with complications during and after pregnancy. Since the beginning of my career, I have specialised in the surgical management of intrauterine pathologies (advanced hysteroscopy). I have also been involved with patients with intrauterine complications after delivery, such as Asherman’s syndrome.
I then progressed along a logical path that led me to continue caring for couples seeking to conceive. IVF is often a long and challenging journey, but when nature and us finally ‘seal a deal’ and the result is a healthy family, it gives me great joy and satisfaction. What is important to me in this process is a personalised, empathetic approach. Respect for a couple’s wishes is foremost throughout the process, as is maintaining open communication based on detailed information. At PFC, we offer couples a comprehensive support network — from IVF coordinators to the embryologists. We are a close-knit team that truly cares about each and every couple we treat.
Doctoral thesis: Topic: Diagnosis and therapy of intrauterine pathologies associated with pregnancy
Communication, respect for patients’ wishes, rational assessment and honesty are, in my opinion, critical to successful fertility treatment. I value building trust over an authoritative approach to treatment.
