Are you celebrating your 35th birthday and longing for a baby, but can’t get pregnant? After the age of 35, the quality of your eggs begins to decline, which means your chances of getting pregnant decrease with each passing year. A woman’s age is a key factor that doctors must consider when treating infertility. The earlier you decide to seek the help of assisted reproduction, the better your chances of success and a positive pregnancy test. Don’t wait until it’s too late!

Up to a quarter of women choose donated eggs
Reproductive medicine has made great strides, and various assisted reproductive methods allow couples struggling with infertility to conceive, but the age of the patient is usually the first thing the doctor looks at. While in 2015, women who underwent IVF were on average 35.3 years old, in 2022, it was already 36.2 years old. The data correlates with a global trend previously described by a BBC news report. If own eggs are not an option, or are already reaching an age where their quality is limited, the option of artificial insemination with donated eggs comes into play. In the Czech Republic, this procedure is becoming increasingly popular. Up to 25% of women opt for IVF with donated oocytes, a significantly higher proportion than in other countries. The average age of patients who choose this method is 42.2 years, which shows that the demand for donated eggs increases as women age.
Unlike in some foreign clinics, where egg and embryo donation is strictly regulated, in the Czech Republic the process is anonymous and accessible. Egg donation is an acceptable solution for many couples who are struggling with fertility problems, allowing them to fulfil their dream of parenthood.
Optimism and time play a role
IVF is a process that can be demanding not only physically but also mentally. Optimism, partner support and stress management are key. But if you start addressing fertility issues early, ideally around the age of 35, your chances of a successful pregnancy are still very high. The earlier you act, the better results you can expect.
At Prague Fertility Centre, we are here to help you fulfil your dream of parenthood. Feel free to come in and see us as soon as possible or schedule a free consultation with our IVF specialist.
